Managed Metadata Service Application

Hi All,

I have one APP, one WFE and one DB server in our farm . 

My question is do i need to start managed metadata web service on APP and WFE both (CA - Services on Server). 

The reason why iam asking is  we are getting error when we are starting managed metadata web service on WFE . while it is running fine when it is started only for APP server . But I am not sure about the impact if I will stop the service on WFE .
