Circulation List - Description for Recipients field gets duplicated

We have users that use the Circulation List template (enabled by Site Feature "Group Work Lists") and have been having issues with the description for the Recipients (V4SentTo) field.  It seems that if you enter a description for this column, it will render twice on NewForm and EditForm.  

Is anyone else seeing this?

I'm running on the SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 2.  I'd rather not have to add Javascript to the pages to remove the second span that is created:
