Claims based auth SP 2010 beta - exception thrown after redirect back to endpoint - https://hostname/ _trust/

Hi,

I finally managed to get one step further and got redirected to ADFS 2.0 correctly - was allowed to login and then was passed back to the url: https://resource.vu.net/_trust/ which is and should according to the docs be configured as the end point in ADSF 2.0 (sp 2010 beta).

However it throws an exception as described below. Did try to found some info ion the internet but have found nothing so far useful. Does anybody have an idea?

The Audience URI could not be validated.

I am having a problem with one of our SharePoint site collections. I was creating a site collection and then it just hung there. I had to come out. it appears sa though the path was created for the site collection. However, it did not connect to a database. I am unable to delete the site collection. If i try it via powershell remove-spsitehttp://mainsite/subsite i just get an invalid data error.

Is there another command that i can try that would remove this site?

Thanks

Intermittent issues after installing Nov 2012 Cumulative Update

$

We just installed the Nov 2012 Cumulative Update on a SharePoint 2010 Farm and have started getting a lot of intermittent errors including:

CSS doesn't load
Images don't load
403 Access Denied

If we set the hosts file to look at only one Web Front End, we don't experience the problem.  It only seems to occur when we are using all 4 web front ends (which are load balanced by an F5).

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Vincent

Revert back to SharePoint - VMware - Virtual machines

Hi

I have read the post; 'SharePoint farm Backup/Restore with VMware Snapshots'

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointadminprevious/thread/e5abf633-9023-4f24-a707-2680cced28e8

And i am thinking,

Firstly an SQL server takes full backup once a day +sql transaction log every 2 hours.

To ensure onself of being safe, could it be possible to do the following:

1) Turn Off all SharePoint VM (2 Frontend webservers and 1 Application server)

2) Take snapshots of the VM's, then turn them on again.

3) Do the update/solution deployment.....

If SharePoint Farm fails (Disaster recovery), then do the following:

4) Turn off VM's. Restore SQL databases using the 'newest' SQL transaction log that was recorded before 'update/solution'.

5) Revert VM's to the snapshot taken in 2).

6) Turn on VM

When talking about the VMs I am only talkin about the 3 SharePoint VM's.

Will this work? Will there still be a sync. problem?

Can SP2010 (Standard) run SSRS web parts?

I have had a request from an end user to install the SharePoint SSRS web parts.  This is the link the sent:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159772.aspx

I am VERY new to farm administration (they have permissions with zero training), and I want to make sure I am correct in my understanding...we are on SharePoint Server 2010 - Standard edition.  Will this work on Standard Server?  It was my understanding we would have to have Enterprise Server in order to use any of the SSRS (or other "Insights Capabilities").

Please help :)

Moving SSRS Report and Subscription to new Sharepoint Library - Xpost SSRS forum

HI,

We have around 20 SSRS reports in a SharePoint Report library (SharePoint integrated mode) and each report has few subscriptions. Requirement is to move these reports to new report library without losing the subscription details.

Is there a way to achieve this without recreating each SSRS subscription in new location?

Environment details:

SharePoint 2010

SSRS 2008 R2 (SharePoint Integrated mode)

Subscription: standard and data driven

Sharepoint backup failing unless logged on to server

Hi

We have a strange problem backing up a Sharepoint farm with Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3.  We have a call open with Symantec but I was just wondering if anyone had seen a similar problem, either with B.E. or other product ?

There are 2 web front end servers, an applications server and a SQL server.

As far as I can tell, we've followed all the Symantec prerequisites for the Sharepoint agent regarding permissions etc.

When we run the backup, it will only complete if we are actually logged on (RDP) to either or both of the web servers as the B.E. default logon service account.  If we log off or log on with a different account the backup fails with permission/security type errors.

As I said, we have a call open with Symantec but just checking if anyone has any ideas ? Maybe it's something in Sharepoint rather than B.E.  My Sharepoint knowledge is limited but the B.E. service account is in the list of Farm administrators and is in the local admin group on each server.

Thanks

John

2-We have added required report server for integration through central management with admin account after upgrade.
3-We have integrated report server URL in reporting services integration section through central management with admin account after upgrade.

Hi,

I  wrote a power shell script  to take a back of share point site and store in different machine.

Script is running fine when I run it manually ,but it  throws following  error "you must specify a filename for the backup file"

I have created a batch file and added batch file to task scheduler. I have posted  my  power shell script below .

try
{
$filename = Get-Date -format MM-dd-yyyy
$path = "\\192.168.xx.xx\"+"c$\" + $filename +".bak"
$site="http://sp:1234"
$r=stsadm -o backup -url $site -filename $path
write-output $r
if($lastexitcode -eq 0)
{
$details = "Back up successful for " + $site
write-output $details
}
else
{
$details = "Backup failed for " +$site
write-output $details
}
}

It will be helpful if some one gives solution.

Error: The server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source

Hi All,

Intermittently(Data displaying fine and in a 2 or 3 minutes getting error. Again after 2minutes data were displaying.)  i am getting the below error in site home publishing page. This data form is located in page layout.

"Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."

This form has been working for months without any issues. I am thinking that some changes done in our third party data source or third party data source network issues.

I checked with Logs, but i could not understand what is the issue.

CSS and JS Deployment Best practices

$

We have 3 environments in our organization namely Dev,Stage and Production.  We do development on the Dev server . Our development involves many things including change in code on ASPX pages,master pages, CSS, JS etc. We have a deployment team which is supposed to deploy these changes to the STAGE and PROD environments. Right now the approach we take to deploy these changes is to manually edit each ASPX, CSS or JS file and enter the changes in it which is a lot of overhead for the deployment team. I feel this is not the proper way.

Can anyone please suggest an optimum way of doing this work so that the deployment team requires minimum amount of manual intervention and all changes are deployed properly.

Farm setup - 2 Wfe and Load balance

$

I have inherited a farm with 2 WFE sitting behind a CISCO Load balancer Box

The Cisco box is configured so one type of request (domain.com) is send to ‘Server A’ and another type of request (subdomain.domain.com) to ‘Server B’ and the farm uses session-state and preserve this in a separate Database.

I would like to replace the Load balancer box and then have a “normal” load balance and then switch over to inproc session in order to improve performance.

Does the forum have any “heads-up” or any other advises regarding the replacement of the Load balancer box and setting up a new Load balancer in regards of Sharepoint?

I guess that I need to use 'sticky sessions' or?

What needs to be done in SharePoint regarding this? -  any AAM entries nessasary or do I need to enable something on the Windows Server 2008 R2?

Accidentally Deleted Relink Documents Web Part from repair.aspx

I accidentally deleted the relink documents list view web part from the repair.aspx (I was try to delete an added web part and deleted the wrong one).  Is there a way to get this back?  I need to do this because there are 7000 documents in the library, all of which are in workflow, so I don't want to move them to a new library.

Thanks!
