Happy New Year all. I hope you can assist me. I've searched the Forums for a solution to this without avail.
On a Server 2008r2 base machine I've created a new Hyper-V VM using Server 2008r2 and set it up as a domain controller. This is for the purpose of building out a SharePoint 2010 dev environment.
- The VM has 5gb RAM and is connected to the internet fine but is not using a static IP. SharePoint 2010 has been succecssfully configured.
- I've set up the following AD User accounts sp_farm - made a member of Domain Admins, sp_serviceapp, sp_apppool & SQL_service. (PW's never expire).
- Windows Updates are all installed
- SQL Server 2008r2 has successfully been installed using the <domain>/SQL_service account, all features installed.
- The ADO.NET Data Services Update for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Windows7 & Windows Server 2008r2 has been installed.
- SP Server 2008 Enterprise was installed
- Office Web Applications was installed prior to starting the SP configuration wizard.
- Initial Farm Configuration Wizard was used to set up initial managed accounts and to create service apps with default settings.
- Manual configuration steps wer performed such as configuring a Profile Import - started User Profile Sync Service, Enabled Activity Feed Timer Job, Ran Search Crawl, Set up the Secure Store, Added Managed Metadata from the sample import file. (some
of these took quite a time to complete but I waited before moving from one to the other)
- I'm now trying to create a Managed Account via Central Administration
a. From Central Admin - click Security
b. From General Security Section click "Configure managed accounts"
c. Clicked on "Register Managed Account"
d. In "User name" entered <Domain(12 alpha char)>\sp_apppool
e. Entered valid password for VM
f. Left other boxes as-is and clicked OK
The following error occurs: The specified user <Domain>\sp_apppool could not be found. Some or all identity references could not be translated.
AD lists the following User Account: sp_apppool
1. User Logon name = sp_apppool@<domain>.com
2. PW never expires
3. First name: sp_apppool
4. Display Name: sp_apppool
5. pre-Windows 200 Logon name: <domain>\sp_apppool
6. Member of Domain Users
7. Tried adding member of Domain Admins, IIS_IUSRS, WSS_WPG & Performance Monitor Users without any luck.
8. Security tab: Everyone - Change PW, Authenticated Users - Read access. System - Full Control, Self - Change PW & specific Read permissions, Domain Admins - everything but full control, Cert Publishers some specific read permissions, Enterprise
Admins - Everything but full control, Administrators - Everything but full control, Pre_win 2000 - Read, Win Authorize Access - Specific Read access & Terminal Server License - Specific Read Access.
Can someone help me determine why I am unable to register the managed account?
I hope I've provided enough details.
Thank you,
Richard
