User Profile service not updating when login id changes

$

Hi,

My user profile service is not picking up the changes from AD when user changes the login id and lastname. A lot of female employee get married and change their last name along with login id. But nothing reflects in User Profile service application , and profile store. I have to run stsadm migrate user command and sync from ad command from powershell to update it in the site. Should not this be done automatically from profile sync? If yes why is it not doing it? Also how to map a property from user profile to AD property? This might be missing too. But i have no idea how to verify it?

Setup HTTPS access on Multi Tenant mode

$

Hi All,

We are in the middle of setting up a Multi-Tenant SharePoint 2010 deployment, and have been following the instructions and scripts in this tutorial. http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2010mt1.aspx I am up to the last part about provisioning tenants, and noticed that this script only provisions them under HTTP. We would like them to access the site via HTTPS instead. Should I have done something else differently in the initial setup to be able to do this, and can i fix that now?

Thanks,

Tim

Setting up SSRS 2012 on Sharepoint 2010

Hi,

I have an SSRS 2012 service application running on a Sharepoint 2010 farm, whenever I try to go to the "system settings" on the service application I get an http 403 forbidden. From the ULS logs:

Application error when access /_admin/ReportServer/ReportingServicesSystemSettings.aspx, Error=The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.

I have a lot of errors in event log as this one:

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.SharedService.Service.DoWorkTimerJob (ID 449b85fb-c051-429c-bed0-649f3112e3c3) threw an exception. More information is included below.

The HTTP request was forbidden with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'.

It looks like it's some issue with authentication configuration, but I can't seem to find what exactly...

I'm a summer intern with no previous knowledge of Share Point so please bare with me. I have administrative access to Share Point Foundations 2010, and I need to make a new site collection. However I'm unable to get onto the Central Administration page. Is there some other form of permissions I need to acquire? Or just some trick that I can try in order to access the page.

Thanks,

Madeleine

Hi All,

After further investigation I found in the log file a couple of these entries: "An exception occured while committing IIS configuration changes: Keyset does not exist (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090016) ca46ad74-a24e-49f8-ab81-6453b387f93b"

Standalone vpc, Win2008R2, SQL2008R2 all pre-reqs was installed successfully and SP2010 was installed with no problems. The above error I get on step three of the configuration.

Below is more detail on what it tries to do before the message is logged.(this is from the log file

Hello SharePoint Fam,

I have been adding Best Bets with no problem for almost a year now and for some reason now I am getting error:

Trying to use an SPWeb object that has been closed or disposed and is no longer valid.

Each time I try to create a new Best Bet/Keyword.  I am using all ootb functions and not sure where to look to resolvethis.  I downloaded the disposechecker tool but not really sure how to use this tool.  I am only seeing this error with new Best Bet keywords and no where else.  Not sure if error is coming from keywords.aspx, masterpage or if there is application pool issue.

Please Help somebody!!!!! Thanks N Advance :)

What's my Sharepoint version?

Hi! I have inherit a Sharepoint 2010 installation, and I'm not sure if it's a Sharepoint 2010 Foundation, a Sharepoint 2010 Server, or a Sharepoint 2010 Foundation updated to a Sharepoint 2010 Server. Here a cap:

There is also some of Office Web Apps.

The expected version of the product was not found on the system

I have a SharePoint 2010 environment which I am getting the error message "The expected version of the product was not found on the system" when trying to apply the October 2012 CU.  The server has (for a long time) had SharePoint 2010 SP1 applied, and in fact was on Feb 2012 CU, prior to attempting to run this.  I've tried to reboot the server, run both the foundation update, and the server (both with the same error message results), and even uninstalled Office 2010 (which happened to be on the server for development purposes), hoping that perhaps it was an Office component that was failing - same results afterwards.

As none of this was working, I tried instead to download another CU (June 2012 CU) and apply it to the server.  This one worked successfully, and the server was then on the June 2012 CU.  I then retried to apply the October 2012 CU, with the same (failed) results.

Note: There are NO language packs installed, only the default English Language (1033) has ever been used on this server.

I have tried using the workaround described here, however, that allows the installation to proceed, but it finishes the entire installation in just a few seconds (in other words, no files are actually copied, and no upgrade is every triggered when running psconfig) - normally this operation takes upwards of an hour, so skipping the check doesn't actually solve the problem.

I've also tried re-downloading the packages on the off chance that something went wrong in the download - this made no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Extranet architecture/setup from existing sharepoint web application

Hi,

I have two questions regarding enabling extranet

1. I have an existing web application port 80 (mymachine:80) behind LAN firewall, I want to extend it to an extranet  and make it accessible to external users who will athenticate using FBA SQL database and want them to access same content of internal users from URL(extranet.mycompany.com).

Users are not in active directory but will be stored in database. What are the steps for URL to be accessible for people outside the company (I think it is DNS or netbios but I am not very networking guy)

2. I already have a web app, tried to extend it but could not enable FBA ( it is disabled ) is there a powershell cmdlet to enable claims on existing app?

I am installing SharePoint initially on a network with a dynamically assigned IP, but will be moving the box to another network to where I will be assigned a static IP.  What are the implications of doing this and or will I run into any issues.  This will not be a test box, but to be used in a production environment.

Client has a SP 2010 farm with UPS configured. Since a while the client seems to have problems with the synchronization. When I look at the evenlog it shows a lot of errors 6801.

MOSS-EXPORT-xxxxxxxxx fails with ma-extension-errors

After I click on a specific error and "validate schema against object" I get the error Required attribute 'AccountName' is missing

I completely removed the UPS.. recreated it, but the errors still appear.

I really have no clue how to fix this, I hope there are some good suggestions here.

People search relevance is not optimized error message

$

I am getting the following error in the Health Analyzer in SharePoint 2010 Standard:

People search relevance is not optimized when the Active Directory has errors in the manager reporting structure.

ategory

Configuration

Explanation

In Active Directory, only company leaders should have the 'manager' property set to NULL. As a result of errors, the Active Directory can incorrectly have the 'manager' property set to NULL for other users that can cause a decrease in people search relevance. By specifying the actual leaders of the company, these inconsistencies are not taken into account and the relevance problem is corrected.

Remedy

Specify the company leaders explicitly. Use the following PowerShell commands: $upap = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy [appid]; Add-SPProfileLeader $upap [Domain]\[UserName]. Run 'Get-SPProfileLeader $upap' to check whether the leader was successfully added. As a last step, run a full crawl on the content source containing the start address (URL) of the user profile application. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=2401800".

I tried to follow the instructions from this site, but am unsure what account must be used as "Leader" and am getting error message:

Add-SPProfileLeader : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

+ Add-SPProfileLeader <<<<  -ProfileServiceApplicationProxy $upaProxy -Name "co

Old user has been deleted out of AD.

Now the new user shows up as Bill Gates(Old) when they log onto the team site but in their MySite it displays they correct name....

Somewhere i guess the old user and her GUID must still be in a DB or how do i resolve this?

Not able to refresh External data in Excel Sharepoint 2010

Hello All,

I am not able to refresh the data in Excel when see the excel report in browser. When i press Refresh All options the page get refresh but no updation in data is reflected.

Actually i have two versions of SQL server installed in my machine

Sql server 2008 R2 (Standard Edition) for SSRS

Sql server 2012 R2 (Enterprise Edition) for PowerPivot and PowerView

I think the issue is whenever excel services try to refresh the data they search for Old assemblies of Analysis service but it was overwritten by New assemblies while installing Sql server 2012 R2.

I have created whole Excel service application but issue is still there.

Also I am not able to publish the workbook in Sharepoint library with authenticated users credential, the workbook only publish with Admin's credential. Is there any group where I need to add authenticated user account?

Please tell me how to come out of these issues.

Thanks in advance
