Configure incoming e-mail settings - Error File Not Found?

Hello

I am trying to setup a test server for SharePoint 2010 and I have followed the MS instructions for deploying a single SharePoint 2010 server with SQL server. I have had no problems or errors during the setup; however now going through the recomended post installation task of configuring incoming email settings I am getting an error message.

I have added the SMTP service to the server, configured it in IIS then gone back to the SharePoint central administration page. When I click Configure incoming e-mail settings under System Settings I get the following error message.

Error File Not Found. Correlation ID: cc08f335-6762-4c70-a690-ecfd012ec3c2

I have no idea what is causing this so have no way to resolve it, any help would be really appreciated.

User Profile Synchronization issues

All,

We have a 2 server farm. I would like to run the User Profile Synchronization Service on 1 server. How can I accomplish this?

I went into the properties for the User Profile Service Application and Profile Synchronization Instance is set to the correct server. I have the User Profile Incremental Synchronization timer job set to run at the same time every night and it continues to run on the server which I have not selected. It is failing every night since I have the FIM services off on this server and the User Profile Synchronization Service is also off on this server.

Again, how can I get it to run on the server which I have selected?

Unable to Upgrade SharePoint 2010 Server (SP Version : 14.0.6137.5000) with Suitable Patches

Hi

We are trying to upgrade one of our SharePoint 2010 server from SharePoint Version14.0.6137.5000 to 14.0.7106.5002 by running the following patches.

1. coreserver2010-kb2817393-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

2. coreserverloc2010-kb2553194-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

3. lpsrv2010-kb2553408-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

4. ubersrv2010-kb2775353-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

5. wdsrv2010-kb2826022-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

6. wssloc2010-kb2589365-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

7. xlsrv2010-kb2826029-fullfile-x64-glb.exe

But whenever we run any of them with ADMIN privilege, we are getting one error message and the process is getting stopped. Error message is"An error occurred while running detection.". Could not insert the Screen Shot as "Submit" is blocking me to insert Image.

We cleared the entire content source and then also facing the same issue while running.

Where as we ran the same patches for our other SharePoint 2010 servers to upgrade them from14.0.6137.5000 to 14.0.7106.5002 and all of them are successful.

Please help us to identify the issue and fix.

What to specfify in CA > Reporting services integration (Report server web service URL) when using SSL for both SharePoint and SSRS?

Hello,

We are using Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server reporting services 2008 R2.    We have the sharepoint site bound to port 443 using a certificate.   We also have the same certificate bound in the reporting services configuration manager's web service URL tab.    In CA should we put the SSL URL or the non SSL URL?    Right now in CA it has the then non SSL URL,http://fakehostname/ReportServer_REPORTSERVICE.     We have some sporadic issues and I am wondering if setting this to our SSL URL will help.    Please let me know if you have any questions.

[MissingFeature] Database [xxxxxxxxxxxxx] reference to a missing feature: Id

I have a number of items that are reporting in the Health Analyzer regarding missing features. I need to remove these before I do an upgrade to SP2. The problem is I am not sure why they are showing as missing when all these features are actively being used on the site. I have used the following resource to remove these features http://get-spscripts.com/2011/06/removing-features-from-content-database.html however when doing so all it does it deactivate it on the site that has the feature. Does anyone have any insight on how to go about getting rid of these?

SP 2010 [The license state for the current server doesn’t match the farm’s license state]

Hello Team

As we have SharePoint 2010 SP2 and have Office Web Apps configured there- Following are as server configuration

SP01- Central (Enterprise Edition)

SP02- All Sites (Enterprise Edition)

Now i am going to add SP03 to in this farm and unable to do that... all server have same version/edition installed. I am getting error below- Failed to connect to the configuration database.

The current server can not be joined to this farm because the set of installed product does not match the products installed in the farm. The license state for the current server doesn't match the farm's license state.

Also curently we are having site 80 port site on the SP02 server, but we require its host toSP01 also. So how can i move that site from SP02 to SP01 in farm configuration server.

Recommended Cache-Control directive

We had a security audit of our Sharepoint 2010 system and one of the recommendations from the scan using WebInspect was related to caching.  Is restricting caching in Sharepoint a supported/recommended practice?  If so, which of the possible options would be best to use (private, no-cache  and/or  no-store)?  Here is the audit result:

"Cached SSL Content -  Set Cache-Control directive to private,  no-cache  and/or  no-store.

Private 

This directive allows the server to prevent a shared cache from caching responses that are intended for a single user. The mechanism can be used to ensure that privileged information is not accidentally leaked to unauthorized users. The directive may still allow caching of responses by non-shared caches.

no-cache 

For sensitive resources requiring user authentication, servers can send the no-cache directive to prevent caches from serving a cached response without first requiring the user agent to validate the user identity. This directive can be specified with or without field names. When no field names are included, this directive applies to the entire request or response. When one or more field names are specified in the no-cache directive, the response is can be cached but the specified field(s) must be excluded. If the response must include the specified field, then the cache must ensure that the request triggers a revalidation with the origin server. Example:

Cache-Control: no-cache="Set-Cookie"

This directive can be used to ensure sensitive information leakage by requiring the server to confirm the user identity before serving the protected information.

no-store

To completely disable caching of requests or responses, the server must specify the no-store directive in the Cache-Control header. This directive applies to the entire request and response regardless of whether the directive is sent in the request or the response."

Public CA and Intranet Sites

I am about 3 months away from three internal web applications certs from expiring. The issue we are facing is that when these were first created we used subject alternative names and the one we used was the short name. This would not be an issue except for the fact that Public CA's are not issuing certs with non fully qualified names after 11/1/15. So the only way I see around this is that I need to add an alternate access mapping with the FQDN and then issue a new cert. We will have a TON of clean up as the developers did not use relative urls in many of there hard coded links. If you can think of anything that can be done where I can add a FQ cert but not have to change the URL to a short name I would greatly appreciate any ideas. I am not seeing how it would not give a cert error if the cert in the trusts is not matching what I put in the browser. Note: I have to use a public CA as we are a child company and the parent needs access to our sites but can't import out root into there's.

Hi,

I would like to know who changed which permissions when for a given project.

I have come across the query

However, I would like to know  the details of change(which user and what permissions and project )are changed.

I also looked at

Error trying to manage previously working User Profile Service Application

My UPA was working until magically one day it started throwing this error when I tried to manage the application, in which case it would throw the below error anytime I clicked on it to change any settings. I've read thread after thread and blog after blog about this error, I've done IISRESETs many times, checked the FIM services, checked the UPA services, deleted and recreated the application several times, rebooted the servers, etc., but the problem persists. I see for a lot of people IISRESET or applying a CU worked, but those are much older CU's from older threads, and I have a CU from Feb 2014 while the threads say applying a CU from 2010/11/12 worked. NOTHING I've tried has worked and I am flat out of ideas here.

My configuration database version is: 14.0.7116.5000

SharePoint Webapplication issues using Kerberos authentication

Hi ,

I have configured SharePoint 2010 farm (one sharepoint server and one database server) with kerberos authentication , and i have successfully created new web application from sharepoint central administration with kerberos authentication , but if i attach any old content database to my web application its not working. I am getting 404 error.

Please help/suggest me to resolve this issue , Thanks in advance.

Content Approval Workflow slow for specific users

Hi. Identify the OotB Content Approval screen, where specific items can be Approved or Rejected.

For the most users, submiting the form causes the item to become immedialy Approved ( or Rejected ).
But I've been struggling with rare cases, where a user submits the form, the items persist the old status for a while, then they assume the new status. The behaviour is consistent with the approval process to be pushed into a background process, delaying the change up to 5 minutes.

Information online is a bit incoherent if this Approval is immediate or scheduled on the Administration process. Or if it depends if the screen is loaded slowly and the form is throtteling preventing futher load on the server.

Ideas ?

A backup or restore is currently in progress

Hello Community

    On WS2012 and SharePoint 2013 Server backups were performed but
failed.

    After awhile for some reason no more backups can be run because
a message appears on the"Perform a Backup - Step 1 of 2: Select Component to Back Up"
page that states:

    A backup or restore is currently in progress

    The question is since I checked "Monitoring" and there are "Running Jobs" is empty
and "Check Job Status" is empty, how come the error "A backup or restore is currently in progress"
won't go away so that the farm can be backed up?

    Note: The backups were attempted using the UI.

"Displaying only the newest results below" is shown on a list view with only 42 items

We have a list that contains 11,000 items.  We have a view defined for this list that currently for me (farm admin) returns about 42 items.  One of our employees tried to access that particular view of the list and for her only 7 items are returns.  Also, at the top of the screen she can see this message "Displaying only the newest results below.  To view all results, narrow your query by adding a filter".  This seems strange.  First, why can't she see all 42 results?  Second, why would the message say that in order to view all results (which I'm assuming would be more than what she currently sees, she needs to add a filter.  I thought a filter would make it return fewer results, not more.  I can understand if this message was shown on the "All items" view which returns all 11,000 items but not on a view that returns 42 items.

Any idea how to fix this?  We do not want to increase the list view threshold unless it's absolutely necessary.

how to limit access for specific users to a calender

Is it possible to limit Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 so that specific user can't see and access calenders.

Im not much into SharePoint. 

Tried creating , custimazing, giving premession to selected selfmade groups .

I hope some of you out there can help.. thanks in advance!

Workflow settngs showing multiple versions

As a part of our operations we have a checklist form that flows through approvals during different stages of the project.  A few months back, someone made a change to the base workflow, and ever since we are getting replicated versions of the workflow in the Workflow Settings View.  It was north of 1,600 workflows today.  One of our approvals is on the Project Initiation Phase, just today, several versions were created.

Is there any way to see what even triggered the creation?  We have tried multiple approaches to duplicate the result, but it seems really random.  Is there a log record that would show what created the new versions resulting in an every growing list of "Previous Versions".

Office documents giving a login prompt on only one of two web front-ends

We have two SharePoint 2010 web front-ends in a load balanced configuration.  For some reason users that hit one of the two front-ends receive a login prompt when downloading Office documents using Internet Explorer.  If they hit cancel the documents still open properly, but it's not a desired behaviour on a public Internet site.  This site has full anonymous access.  Users hitting the other front-end don't receive this prompt.

I've tried denying the OPTIONS and PROPFIND verbs on both IIS servers and this hasn't worked.

The offending WFE shows this error when it gives a login prompt:

Usage Logs are not getting deleted for 14 days

Hi, On couple of our SharePoint servers the usage logs are not getting deleted for 14 days. Is it a normal behavior? What is SharePoint's normal behavior as far as the usage logs are concerned? In one of the articles I was reading it says they get deleted daily from a Timer job. Is it so? If not, Can I reduce the retention period? Thanks.
