I'm encountering with workflow error  in SharePoint 2010. The  System account stopped workflow process whenever. The workflow history has the following:

Event Type: Error
User ID: System Account
Description: The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the e-mail has valid recipient

I configured properly Outgoing email as well as valid recipient email.

I have created this custom workflow using SPD ,for a custom list I created.

but the approval Process is stuck on In Progress and when i loo @ the history i get this error

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Our organization is planning to migrate our current Sharepoint 2003 environment to sharepoint 2010 env.

Here I would like to have your expert advice to guide me on the process.

Current Scenario:we have following architecure laid down for SP 2003

A) 1-Database Server

B) 2- WFE Server

C) 1 App and Index Server

Under the current scenario, we have almost 6-7 Top Level Site collection( almost 150 GB of data), total no of sites and area : 990 and a total of 240 ungosted pages.

We do have customizations as well like, an updated custom CSS file has been created and applied to portal and team sites, we have customized site templates as well list template.

So considering all above factors we have 2 two option to move further with migration.

1) Via SP 2007: Means from SP 2003 to 2007 then finally 2010, but got to know and even experienced issue with this approach, it is particularly difficult and even minor customization to farm can cause migration to fail.

2) Another option is to got for some third party migration tool to complete this migration like(Metalogix and DaVinci), But not sure how much reliable these 2rd party tools are.

So here seeking your expert advice on how can I make this migration successful and which process I should go for and in case you have any case study matching my requirement please share it with me.

Note: Please let me know in case you need further information on same.For Sharepoint 2010 env as well we are looking forward for same architecture as of current.

I recently installed Windows Management Foundation for server support, but now I'm running into issues running SharePoint Utiltiies.  I understand the issue and I am able to use the following shortcut switches to run SharePoint 2010 Management Shell, but I am still facing obstacles running powershell_IS and SharePoint Diagnostic tools.  Has anyone jumped these hurdles?

Shortcut for SharePoint Management Shell:
C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\PowerShell.exe -version 2.0 -NoExit &"' C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\CONFIG\POWERSHELL\Registration\\sharepoint.ps1 ' "

Unfortunately, the version command switch is not available for PowerShell_ISE and running ISE from the shortcut above does not preserve the version selection.

SPDiag also lacks the version switch and results in this error:
Microsoft SharePoint is not supported with version 4.0.30319.296 of the Microsoft .Net Runtime.
I was unable to find any references to the Framework in the XML files for the application and there is no app config file.

Make it happen.

1. I created an team site in sharepoint server 2010.Nothing I added extra to the site.

2. Then I opened that site in sharepoint designer and created a new external data type.

this is an SQL server. I have a small database in my server, I added that as an external data type to this site.

3. I am able to add the database to my site.

4. Then I created an External List of type contact list as my database has article ID, author, data of creation etc.

5. This creation also sucessfull and when I clicked on create button , my external list appeared on the quick launch but it didn't displayed anything on the page it showed up the below error on the page.

Error Message :

Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator.

After crawling i am getting the below error

The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly.

As per the below,i checked out home pages and i am able to browse the pages.

The account that i am using is having secondary site collection admin access to the parent site.

But couldn't get the resolution on the same.

I've got a Problem with the User Profile Sync in SP2010. After the Sync configuration, I tried to start the Sync but after view minutes I've got over 100 event Log entries with the Errors 6801 and Warning 6100.

Does anyone have any experience with using a non-Microsoft (meaning NO Active Directory) solution for SAML authentication in Sharepoint 2010? I have been searching for good documentation on how to do this and I have failed.

We have a SunONE LDAP server that is providing SAML 2.0 tokens if you do a form POST to a specific URL. I hae configured Sharepoint to use the URL of the SunOne server but it seems like there is no SAML token being returned.

Will I have to write a custom app to handle this? It seems like Sharepoint should be able to handle this but I am unable to get it working.

I'm seeing some odd, yet intermittent, behavior while trying to filter columns in datasheet view using a custom filter. After clicking to apply a filter to a column and choosing 'Custom Filter...' a pop-up with regular expressions should appear much like the following screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ed6t4z3s8p13u96/sp.png

I have been able to replicate this sporadically in both IE 8 and 9 against different columns but it's really inconsistent. I can't seem to find any configuration issues or commonality across the clients that might be responsible. Local installations of Office are 32bit. I know 64bit has been known to cause some issues. I wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue at all or perhaps it has been addressed in a more recent CU than what I am running (14.0.6117.5002). Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have an out of box SharePoint 2010 web application using claims based authentication mode + Enable Windows Authentication(NTLM) , OOB site template (everything is out of box), and added a domain group (domain\groupA) giving it a read rights.

1)checking the user permission (user A member of domain\groupA) shows only that the user have limited access given through "Style resources readers) group and nothing related to the domain group.

2)The same test done in same environment with classic based mode web application will show :

Read access given through "domain\group) group

3) while in different farm the same scenario and steps were done to create the webapp( claims + windows enabled), site and adding the domain\group --> checking the permission of the user will show that the user have

Read access given through "domain\group) group

limited access given through "Style resources readers) group  ???

so what might be the problem with the first farm ?

4)another test shows in the first farm , that if userA logged in the site once in (case 1 claims + windows )--> checking his permission again will show the right list of permissions but this is not the case with all the members of the group if they logged in(testing 2-3 other users)????.

, but I just narrow it here I made OOB test cases as I have a new domain and migrating the sharepoint 2010 from old domain  + web app that uses claims/ windows and forms--> so I need to check the the migrated web/sites users permission before put it live which seems to be not possible , as I can not ask all the users to login (and may be the permission  is not right ) .

I can not find a logical cause is it the farm , sharepoint configuration .... any advice is appreciated and why its happening in this particular farm + claims ( testing the case with 3 other farms and check permissions behave normally)

Faced with the following problem.
In one of the site collection when a new workflow climbs mistake.

12/28/2012 15:16 Workflow canceled System Account Workflow "456" canceled by: System Account.
12/28/2012 15:16 Error system account could not be started "456".


It is observed so far only in one site collection.Appeared in svezhesozdanom list / library and the existing.But the existing business processes are working properly and no errors are.

The logs of the system are observed only mistake
Could not load file control template'' / _controltemplates / TaxonomyPicker.ascx''.Could not load type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.WebControls.TaxonomyPicker' from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version = 14.0.0.0, Culture = neutral, PublicKeyToken = 71e9bce111e9429c'.

In this case, the standard recommendations for change & # 44 on "," I have already fulfilled.

If someone has faced a similar problem.Please write as solved. All suggested that Google already tried.A re-create the site collection is not very desirable, too many settings and content in it tied.

В одном из семейств сайтов при запуске нового рабочего процесса вылазит ошибка.

Она наблюдается пока только в одном семействе сайтов. Проявлялась как в свежесозданом списке/библиотеке, так и в существующем. Но при этом уже существующие рабочие процессы работают нормально и никаких ошибок не выдают.

В логах системы наблюдаются единственная ошибка

Yе удалось загрузить файл шаблона элемента управления ''/_controltemplates/TaxonomyPicker.ascx''. Could not load type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.WebControls.TaxonomyPicker' from assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c'.

При этом стандартные рекомендации по замене &#44 на "," я уже выполнила.

По ссылке файл ULS лога на момент запуска рабочего процесса.   Если кто-то сталкивался с подобной проблемой. Напишите пожалуйста как решали. Все что гугл подсказал уже перепробовала. А пересоздавать семейство сайтов не очень хочется, слишком много настроек и контента в нем завязано.

Found some similar questions on here about this, but none of them addressed my specific problem.  

I have a single site collection and have added a Records Center.  Went into Central Admin to create a Send to Connection to enable the ability for folks to send documents to the Records Center easily.  Copied in the web service url from the RC content organizer settings.  Went to Add Connection and received "Verification Failed: URL is a not a valid routing destination".  Checked the logs and found event 8311 in reference to an SSL certificate that is no longer in use and has been deleted from IIS.  I opened the certs snap-in on the server, browse through, and I don't see any reference to this old certificate.  Thought it might be in Personal (because that's where the other SSL s are) or SharePoint.  Not there.  Oddly when I browse to the main site collection within the server that this cert was being used, it is using that certificate even though I've removed it from IIS (by the way,the browser tells me it's mismatched because it is not the same fqdn as the site collection..not sure how that happened).  With that.. my theory is that SharePoint is still picking up this certificate somewhere and I have to maybe run a script or powershell command to wipe it from the system. Or find another way to properly remove this cert and all remnants of it..

Here's some things I've done while researching this:

-I have this same configuration on my dev environment (no ssl) and it works fine.

-Added the cert to Manage Trust in Central Admin anyway to test.

-I can get to.. https://sitecollection.com/_vti_bin/OfficialFile.asmx in the browser.

-Content organizer feature is of course enabled in the Records Center.

Edit: Interesting.  I just discovered that I'm getting the same SSL error referencing the old cert in the ULS logs when I attempt to create a new data source on a Report Library "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."

I just completed My Site configuration, but i realized that for some users the user profile picture url is wrong.

Some users have "http://domain/myUser%20Photos/Profil%20Resimleri/domain_loginname_LThumb.jpg" which is wrong. There has to be "/" between "my" and "User%20Photos".

And some users have the correct image url: "http://domain/my/User%20Photos/Profil%20Resimleri/domain_loginname_LThumb.jpg"

Is there any way to fix this?

I have a technical question about Developer Desktops for SharePoint Server 2010, Visual Studio, and Custom Development. I get conflicting answers.  

We have many Developers customizing SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise using Visual Studio. Each Developer has one “Developer Desktop”.  We have a dedicated two-tier Farm for DEVELOPMENT, and three dedicated three-tier farms for UA TESTING, STAGING, and PRODUCTION.

The FIRST explanation I hear is this: 

Because we have a dedicated DEVELOPMENT farm running an instance of SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise, it can act as the TARGET for development work with Visual Studio. Many Developers, using many “Developer Desktops”, can TARGET this one SharePoint Server 2010 DEVELOPMENT instance. It is not absolutely necessary for every one of the many Developers to have (more expensive) Server-Licenses and SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Instances running on their “Developer Desktops”. 

DEVELOPERS ONLY NEED: SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise CAL-Licenses (less expensive), Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Licenses. Developers can use the Object Model on the DEVELOPMENT Farm.

The SECOND contradictory explanation:

Regardless of having a dedicated DEVELOPMENT farm, every Developer needs their own private copy of SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise, their own running SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Instance, and their own SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Server-License on every “Developer Desktop”. (Of course, Developers also need Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Licenses.) 

DEVELOPERS ADDITIONALLY NEED: an absolutely necessary copy of SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise, a corresponding running Instance, and a corresponding Server-License for each Developer and each “Developer Desktop”.

QUESTION:

I can see how the second case may be correct for one person working alone without an accessible DEVELOPMENT environment; however, I believe that it is not absolutely necessary to buy multiple Server-Licenses when there is a DEVELOPMENT environment already available. Is this correct?

UPS is setup and working, both incrementals and fulls.

Profile sync account has 'replicate ad changes' for "All Objects and Child Objects" rights

1. Made a change to an AD group name (shortened the name)
2. kicked off an incremental sync... name change did not replicate.
3. Kicked off full sync... name change did not replicate.
4. Deleted the group from AD
5. Kicked off incremental sync... group was deleted...
6. Added new group to AD
7. Kicked off incremental sync, new group/name was added to ups

Why would name changes not replicate when performing an incremental and/or full sync?

Okay, the initial requirement is easily attainable...

User Permissions for Web App - deny 'Create Sub-Sites'. Problem resolved. Except, I need site collection admins to be able to create sites... just not anyone below a site collection admin.

Ideas?

I created a site collection, saved as template. 

Created a sub site with the template, no problems.

Tried to create a site collection from the template... I could not find the template.... or for that matter the whole 'Custom' section under templates... any ideas?
